Diletante42 proudly presents “Icons of Brazilian Design: Mid-Century Furniture Masters,” a collaborative exhibition with L’Space and Verso, showcasing seminal works from the golden era of Brazilian Modernismo. This exhibition brings to light the diverse visions and transformative influences that defined modern Brazilian aesthetics and functionality during a pivotal time in the country’s history. This exhibition pays tribute to an illustrious group of Brazilian designers and architects who crafted their legacy against the backdrop of the 20th century’s dynamic shifts—marked by rapid industrial growth, significant internal migration, and the ambitious project of constructing a new capital from the ground up. These movements coincided with cultural blossoms like Bossa Nova and the innovative architecture of Oscar Niemeyer, mirroring a period brimming with creativity and new ideas. Featured in the exhibition are iconic pieces from masters such as Joaquim Tenreiro, Sergio Rodrigues, Lina Bo Bardi, José Zanine Caldas, Jorge Zalszupin, Martin Eisler, and Carlo Hauner. These designers are celebrated for their revolutionary use of materials and contributions to furniture design, which continue to influence aesthetics globally.
